Four sacred colors on the central circle of this blanket represent humanity and the four directions. When blended together, these colors make brown, the color of Mother Earth. The four colors each represent a different direction: yellow is east for the Sun; red is south for warmth and life-blood; black is for west and represents the night sky; white is north and signifies snow and its purity. Pendleton Woolen Mills has woven the symbols and legends of Native American tribes into stunning blankets for the past century. Wool fiber is naturally elastic and prone to keeping its shape, which means it is wrinkle-resistant. If a garment or blanket is hung for 24 hours, it usually will restore a smooth appearance, with no need for ironing. Some of our Pendleton items are hand washable, but if the label says 'Dry Clean,' the item does not have a washable finish, and washing it can result in shrinkage and loss of fabric smoothness.
