Old Hickory offers a choice of wood on some of its hickory products.

Bark Textures:  By changing the degree of sanding, the Old Hickory artisans can greatly effect the appearance of the hickory poles (saplings) on each piece.

• Regular Bark:  Traditional look.  Regular sanding leaves the bark texture in its natural darker and rougher appearance.

• Tahoe Bark:  "Over sanding" exposes inner core creating a smoother texture while bringing out the reddish, brown tones of the core.

Finish Colors:  Finish or color of stain applied to the entire frame affects hickory portion of the frames and also the wood species used on tables and case goods.

• Puritan Finish:  Light golden stain color from Minwax.

• Centennial Finish:  Dark walnut stain from Minwax.

• Rustic Finish:  Warm Reddish, brown stain formulated by Old Hickory.

Wood Species:  Type of wood or veneers used on table tops and case goods.

• Oak Veneer:  Rich hardwood with beautiful grain traditionally used by Old Hickory because of its strength and durability.

• Pine Veneer:  Pine with its knots and natural casual feel contrast with the hickory saplings to create a warm and inviting combination.

• Pioneer Wood Finish: This refers to heavily distressed solid Oak or Pine. A 9-step finishing process on the solid woods helps to create the worn and weathered look that enhances the value of the furniture.

• Aged Barnwood:  As old barns fall into disrepair, Old Hickory reclaims the lumber when they are torn down.  In these aged barn boards you will find nail holes and a beautiful patina achieved from decades of exposure to the elements.
